One note here about yarrow. Be careful when making it into tea, it contains a poison called thujone. I think that’s how it’s spelled. Sage also contains this same poison. I don’t think it’s a huge issue, just be careful everyone.

One more positive thing about yarrow is that it’s a powerful insect repellent. Crush it up fresh and rub it on to keep the bugs away, or make a tincture with yarrow and some strong alcohol. Crush up the yarrow and put it in a mason jar. Cover it with some 100 proof vodka. Let it sit for six weeks, strain out the yarrow and you have natural and exremely effective bug spray. The Army did a study on this very potion and found it to be more effective than deet. Beware though, it’s flammable when first applied–don’t apply it near the camp fire.

You’re really welcome, I feel that there are a lot of untapped natural resources out there that aren’t paid enough attention to. Would be great to head in to the garden with scissors instead of to the chemist with a sheet of paper.
